Summary:
The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for facilitating onboarding and pre-employment clearance and employment law compliance for direct support professional staffing as well as various non-exempt positions.
Provides administrative support to the Human Resources Generalist and the Director of Human Resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
Recruits, interviews and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open position; collaborates with departmental supervisors to understand skills and competencies required for openings; participates in job fairs/open houses as needed.
2.
Collects background information from applications submitted by all potential new hires; which involves all aspects of the background check process.
3.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
4.
Personnel file maintenance.
5.
Works in conjunction with the HR Generalist in preparing Personnel Action Notices (EIF) and enters all data for employees into the HRIS system, including new hires, terminations and all other personnel status changes.
Processes all employee checklist tasks (new hire, termination, transfer) 6.
Maintains and updates master schedule as requested.
7.
Assists with special projects as requested.
8.
Ensures that the employment application and EEO information log is maintained properly.
9.
Creates and maintains employee personnel files; maintains I-9 documentation as required.
10.
Maintains record keeping of staff call-outs.
11.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
12.
Assists the Director of Human Resources with coordinating employee recognition activities (employee luncheon, Holiday Open House, etc.
).
13.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Generalist and/or Director of Human Resources.
14.
Cooperates fully with licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection or investigation.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
Must be at least 18 years old, have a valid NJ Driver's License with an acceptable record of safe driving Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred At least 1 year of human resources experience.
Knowledge of ADP Payroll/Workforce Now PLUS Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Ability to pass a Child Abuse Record Information (CARI) check.
